Doc Ranger

L.I to learn about DOC Rangers.
So for one of the task on the SLJ (summer learning journey.) So we have to talk about listing three pros (good things) and three cons (bad things) about working as a DOC ranger. So the three good things of being a DOC Ranger is that you get to see and feel what the animal life is about and you get to see different animals and the bad things about being a DOC Ranger is that they can attack you and kill you and just harmful things and they will be bad animals.

Headless Ed

L.I to share what we can do.
My beast's name is Headless Ed. One of the activities for Summer Learning Journey was to make your own beast. My Beast can trap you in his imaginary dark room and make you unconscious. My Beast is covered with scars because of its fierce battles. It is really tall and hairy.

Cacti Math Problem


L.I to share what we know to others in need.
For this task we had to answer this math problem about how much you are to put in the in cacti. The problem was pretty had to find because it was about how much we are to put in a cacti for a year. So we had to do either a slide, video or a google draw.

Tāne Mahuta Tree

L.I to express what you feel to location.
For this task we had to tell other of if we want to go to the Tāne Mahuta Tree and I would really like to go because of how many years old it is and I have not been to any special tree. Tane Mahuta tree because it would be great to see a tree that is apart of New Zealand's history I hope I would get to visit the Tane Mahuta.

Digital Footprint

For the task we had to write down things that can keep you online safe and smart, and these are the ones that I chose because they were the only ones I can think of.  So I manage to write down the stuff I had learned in the past because our class has been learning about safety online. So the people that read my blog post should learn the safety rules in our school and what we do to never get in danger on that internet.

I am Andrew and I live in Otahuhu, this place is a cool place to eat and have fun because of the many parks that are near the shops. I have fun playing at the parks mostly the park next to the Mc Cauley. `We have lots of things to do such as play on parks, eat some food and to the pool that have hot tubs and outside pools.

For the summer learning journey we had to do activity's in the holidays to keep you on track. For the activity that Im doing "Top 3 fun facts about NZ." and I chose: New Zealand was once governed as part of the territory of New South Wales and later a part of Australia, it was the first major nation to have universal suffrage, in 1893 all male and female citizens are legally allowed to voted and New Zealand is one of the world’s least populated countries with over 4 million populations.

Commenting

I learnt how to make a smart comment and not to cyber bully. How learnt by using help. We had to make a blog comment about the work that someone had done on their blog post. We had learnt how to do commenting properly because the teacher had wrote the steps on the board. We had learn about how the commenting helps others.

Basic facts

LI: to practice learning our basic facts.

Today for i had to learn my basic facts so that we remember them we had to do the addition and subtraction box and we had to do all of them on this google sheet and i did six rows of basic facts. This was easy because most of them i already know.

This week for Inquiry we polished up our work and information. We had to put our information in our presentation. We needed it to have the print design rules, and to have a good set of information. The activist me and my group picked was Jane Addams. She was a woman who supported women's right and many other things.

LI: to use nine tenses in a short story
This week for Writing  we had to do a DLO (Digital Learning Object) which is to write a short simple story. In the story it had to have the three simple tenses, three continuous tenses, and three perfect tenses. When we wrote it we had to put it on a site called story bird.

Idioms


LI: to learn a whole bunch of idioms.
For Reading we had to read articles, books and stories. We had to look for idioms in the texts and get the information on dictionary. The idioms that we did were mostly were all for one point because there was a challenge for chocolate. So who ever got the most points got the food and we came second.

Maori

L.I to learn the Maori way of speaking.
In Maori we were learning about Maori places like Hamilton and more on DLO. We also had to search up where the place was to see what Island it was on. This was hard but I did it fast so you might say hard and fast. some of the places were hard.

Kiwi Can

L.I to learn about the school, community and environment. and respect.
This was the final week and we had Mrs Piho. For kiwi can we were learning about the new topic which is respect in community, school and the environment. After that we played a game the game name was called "10 second tag, Invisible touch and Octopus." We had all of those for the final week the games were fun and before all of this we had to do a challenge where we had to do all the catch phrases from this term. The game was fun because it included fitness and thinking about where your going.

Algorithm Multiplication


L.I to show what we have learnt through the year.
For Maths we had to show what we learnt, but do it in the last DLO we were doing and my last DLO was Slide. I had to chose what I was going to do for the multiplication the I was doing and I thought that I could do algorithm to show my multiplication. I had chose four questions that had to be around the thousands and the hundreds. I had done four one thins week one last week and ones before that week.

How i did this was by doing it and listening.

Perfect Tenses


LI: to identify verb tenses.
This week for writing I worked in a group to find twenty verbs that we didn't do last week and put them on a google slides. We also doing perfect tense's which is the whole thing that is going to happen, we had to make seven videos about seven of the twenty verbs, we had to act out what the verb is and we had to say what inflection that we were going to do (Time). This week I learned by working with my group, by finding out the verbs and by making the videos.

Jane Addams

LI: to learn about our activist
This week for Inquiry I researched about Jane Addams. This task was a two - three week task. So for the first week me and my group wrote information on a document about her before doing the presentation. Jane Addams was an activist who spoke for Woman's Right's. She wanted to be free with all the other women.

Athletics interschool

For Athletics inter school we had to do our task or job and my things was Discus and Shot put. For the Discuss I had come first and for the shot put I had come third. The schools that were there were: Stan Hope, Pt England, Panama Road school, Tamaki Primary School, GlenBrae school, Sylvia park school, Panmure District school and Stonefields. When we had Athletics we had to wait for the sport that we made into. When it was our turn we had to get told by our leaders to hear where we have to go to do the sport. I had come first for Discus and third for Shot put.

Kiwi Sport

For kiwi sport This was the last kiwi sport. We were learning the three commandments and they are: Respect, Discipline, and Safety. If we break any of the commandments we get banned from going to boxing. The first thing that we learnt was the body stance, but first we got into partners when I was with my partner we had to name or self's a number and the number had to get on separated lines. After we were learning lot of combos which were all hard. After that we had to pack up and put or gloves away and wash or hands then we went back to class to write or blog post.

Subtraction Videos


LI: to learn subtraction
This week for Maths I did was Subtraction and I had to make three videos of them. One video was ten's subtraction. The second video was one hundred's subtraction. The last video was one thousand's subtraction. In each video we had to say the answer in three languages. The three languages I did were Spanish, Samoan, and Te Reo Maori.

LI: to learn a whole bunch of new words
This week for Reading we learned new words. We had to learn the definitions and out of those words we had to Draw, Find, Animate, or Act them out. It had to describe the word we were doing such as Extract which is the word we did. Before we started on our DLO we first had an example we made. The four words we did were Thwart, Opulent, Encroach, and Fetid. Thwart means to stop someone from accomplishing something. Opulent means to be comfort of luxury. Encroach means invading in someones property, space, or territory. Fetid means an unpleasant smell like farts.

Kiwi Can

L.I to learn about the community and respect.
For kiwi can we were learning about the new topic which is respect in our environment. Then we were told that we had a new topic and it was respect for our community. After that we played a game the game name was called "Snake" in the game we had to get one person and they have to lie on the ground and slide them self to touch someone. Then we sat back into our four lines and talked about Respect to our community after that we played another game an it was called Tic tac toe in the game you get into teams and there are chairs that you sit on to take the place for the cross or o you are.

LI: to recall how to surf the Internet safely.
In cybersmart we had to learn about what were things to do to get the result you want on google. We also learnt things on this FBI site that had things such as games that had quizzes. We also had to learn about the things that we shuld not do and what we should do to keep our self how to be safe.

Inferring


LI: to infer thoughts and emotions.
For Reading we were learning about inferring also we had to infer about a video which is from Pixar. The video is a short film and the title is, "For the birds." We first started off with watching the video as groups (In our own reading groups.) Then we had to find a scene and infer was the bird of anything is happening. We did the first infer in our groups then did the rest on our self.We learnt about inferring which is getting hints from the text and putting them together to get the final answer. We had to use prior knowledge to infer what the birds were feeling. We had to do as many as we wanted. We had to infer lots which was a struggle.

Then we learned how to do the jab twice one after another. Then we learned how to jab twice and punch with your right hand. After that we had to pack up and put or gloves away and wash or hands then we went back to class to write or blog post.

Animation


L.I to make DLOs of what we learn about with in Division, Subtraction, Addition and Multiplication.
For math we had to make a animation, poster, Slide and video. These are the hard things.
 I'm going to explain them all in different ways. So my equation I had to do for my Division Animation was to figure out, ⅓ of twenty four, and ¼ of twenty four. So we had to explain that in animation. Please click fast.

What Can You Tell?

LI: To infer information from a picture.
This week for Reading our task was had to infer whats happening in the photo that were on the slides. So we had to get into partners but one of them had to be from a different Reading group. After we got into partners we had to make a copy of the google slide then we work individually we just got into partners to tell each other what you infer (we shared our information with each other.). Some photos were a bit hard because you ran out of things to infer. Also after inferring you had to make a arrow pointing at where your inferring about.

Trenches/WW1

LI: to learn about trenches
For inquiry we were learning about trenches and we had to look on the links for information about the trenches such as  and things that they used in the trenches. This week we learned about trenches and how they were used. Before World War One people used trenches to trap the enemies, and shoot them down with Bows and Arrows or use them to hide or get a better advantage of killing the other team. So in our slide we wrote about the bad health conditions, and about the trenches. We also talked about No Mans Land.

In Maori we were learning about maori words that are related to food. We also watched a video of the deeds that were done to make Aotearoa. This book was inappropriate for me and other kids in my class thought that but the book was a good book that read to me and half of my class.

Then we sat back into our four lines and talked about Respect to our community after that we played another game an it was called hand soccer in the game if you get into groups and number your selves off and the numbers that are called have to run to the cone and get the ball into the goal.. The game was fun because it included fitness and thinking about where your going.

Mounted art

L.I to learn and complete your art.
This week we have been learning about the famous artist from NZ Max Gimblett. He has painted Quatrefoils and has done this for the remembrance. This art session was cool doing this on computers but now we are going to do it on paper. This has made me be more creative then ever. We have learnt that the famous artist Max Gimblett is a really famous person because some of his art is all around the world. Touch Rugby

On Tuesday we had Touch rugby and there were two groups for each LS1 and LS2 class. There was the two year five and six's and the year sevens and eights group. When we played the teams my team were against: Stone Fields we lost to, Glen taler we lost to, Panmure District we lost to, Pt Englald we lost to, Sylvia park we lost to and more. We had lots of fun and thanks to the people that helped

After she read us the book she told us to go on google maps and find where Whangara is, and where the school is. This book was inappropriate for me and other kids in my class thought that but the book was a good book that read to me and half of my class.

The reasons why I did these designs are because the Max Gimblett one has my favorite colors and it shows my bad side and good side. The armistice day one was designed like it was because the poppies represent the peace for the end of war and the cross's represent those that took risks. The reason why I chose the design for the Chrismas one was because I went to the Ice mountain and made a snowman with my brothers and reminds me of it.

Then we sat back into our four lines and talked about Respect to our community after that we played another game an it was called ten second tag in the game if your name was called then you are the tagger if you are the tagger for ten seconds then your out of the game. The game was fun because it included fitness and thinking about where your going.

Film Festival

L.I to tell others about the things we expreience
Today we went to the Manaiakalanai film festival inside of the cinemas .We saw alot of schools videos that were for the Manaiakalani film festival. The schools that me and my class saw were Tamaki Primary, St Patricks, Tamaki College, Panmure bridge and also Stonefields school. All these schools were not at the cinema at the same time. My favourite video was from Tamaki College; Acid, do you love me?. It was made to be a bad parody. If you see this video you will see how bad the parody is .The people inside of this manaiakalani video are Alayah , Kaitlyn , Fau , Victoria and our two teachers, But the teachers inside of this video are Mr Ogilvie , Mr Wong and Mr Johnston all of the people inside of this video are at Panmure Bridge School and The name of our movie\video is called a bit dicey. Armistice day


L.I to show what WW1 events happened.
For Armistice day we had to make a copy of this slide and find information about the poppy, last post and the the fallen ode. The videos are about what the topic is on the slide. We had learnt and searched on google What is the last post. Today we had to get into different partners and we had to watch different videos and we had to write information about what the fallen is it is a poem and of remembrance and we also learnt about that last post In army traditions the bugle call is what signifies the end of the day's activities and is played at military funerals and acts of remembrance. The poem was created by Robert Grave.

Writing Sample

LI: to evaluate writing samples using the PBS writing rubric.
For Writing we were learning about how to check our work by our self and letting others check our work as well. We had to write a recount about family time and check the recount for structure and language. We also when we got to the mat we had to give our own Chromebook to someone next to you and then someone across the room. This will let someone that you don't really play with check the work to help with social skills.

WW1 Battles/WW1 Weapons


L.I To learn about the causes, conflict, and resolution to World War 1 (WWI).
This week we had to learn about WW1 and the conflicts that had happen before WW1 even started. The source of information that we used was from http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/zs666sg and MORE. The timeline is on the site link. We had to find the facts of the words that are on the right. We had to find the timeline of what had happen to make WW1 and put it into order from later to now.

This week for maths we were learning about fraction the first thing we did was sit on the floor then Mr Ogilvie said to get into groups I was with Viliami and Xavier. Then we played A little game and in the game we had to make our own fraction problem after that we had to create a google slide as a group with a fraction problem Viliami was doing thirds I was doing fifths and Xavier was doing fourths. I used blocks to do my problem.

U-Turn slide


LI: To make a book interactive.
For reading we were learning about how to make a interactive slide for people to find and answer. This was fun when I made this because you have to find who is the main character? and more. The things that we also learnt was how to infer and find the answers because this was a think and search.

KiwiCan

For kiwi can we were playing games that we wanted to play but first we had to vote on the two games we wanted to play. We played Sensitive run/ball and bus stop. We played Sensitive run/ball first we had get into a circle and number people off. and when kiwi can called all the one people then all the one people have to run around everyone and to their standing spot to run in the middle to get the ball. We had fun because I always got the ball. The next game we played was bus stop this game was hard because the instructions were get paper and write down boy name, girl name, food, animal, color and the total. The kiwi can leader called out a letter and we have to write a boys name starting with the letter and when finished writing say bus stop and if you got the same name or thing for any topic then you get five points but if you only got the word and no one got the same as you then you and your team get ten points.

In Maori we were learning about the weather through the past three day and we were also learning about the what had happen around that area. in Taranak Parihaka is a placei and the settlement of the Europeans and the Maori people had the settlement. The settlement was for the Europeans and the Maori to stop fighting over the land.
