Kiwi Can

L.I to recap about what we had learnt about what we did last term.
For Kiwi Can we were learning about the big T and the little t which the big T is Resilience and the little t is Emotions. The energizer was when we had to do a few things and tell what we had felt when we did the mini activity's.  The activity was that we had to show what we had be feeling but we were not allowed to speak. We talked about emotions and how we can show emotions using our body.

Smart searching

                                       L.I to use keywords for better researching.                                                                                               For Cyber Smart we are learning about how to research using keywords.

Motat Mind lab

L.I to learn about how to create new things. Motat means Museum Of Transport And Technology. We were lucky to go to Mind Lab which is in Motat which is the topic for our Inquiry. At Mind Lab we were assigned to create a electric car with: Cardboard (for body), skewers (for axle), motor, wheels, propeller and tape. When making these cars we are learning about engineering. We then went on to making a light that stays on with a little of human power. We were given a example of what a person created a windmill that makes the light stay on when you move it. We had to make this out of: motor, cogs, base (which was blocks that could connect) and LED (Light Emitting Diode). We then went exploring around Motat and saw lots of old transport vehicles.

Possum problem

LI: to separate fact from opinion
Fact is something that is true, and a Opinion is what someone things which is what their belief. We first did activity and got a statement and we had to prove if it was Fact or Opinion? Our work was to read a book on the Problem about Possums in New Zealand. We then had to find out the main idea, and find the facts and opinion in the book. We then had to make a poster about if we should exterminate possums, or protect them.

Persuasive language

L.I What is Persuasive.                                                                                                                         For writing we are learning about persuasive language. We have to make a poster about the ways you can have an argument. Bias means to take side. Perspective means the way that you see it. We started with a video from kid president. There are six things to do in a argument: Breathe, love, Distract them from the long talk and others. Video LINK

Quiz basic facts to 20

LI: to manage finances and profit by creating with maths.
Managing finances and profit is what we are learning and doing for this term. We are learning about how to use and make money by spending it wisely. We all have bank accounts and we have a opening balance. Each person gets a 50 dollar opening balance. We have commissions to complete that are different levels that earn us different amount of money if finished. I am doing a quiz about basic addition to 20. LINK to quiz.

Lunch NZMA

L.I to eat healthy.
NZMA had made delicious healthy food for 40 of us. We are so lucky to have the lunch. We had to lots of food and the food was delicious. The food was healthy and still delicious. They talked to us about what was in the food and about our eating balance. They told us what was in the lunch box: Burrito, fruit salad, samosa and a blue berry muffin.

For Kiwi Can we were learning about the big T and the little t which the big T is Resilience and the little t is Emotions. The energizer was that we had to show what we had be feeling but we were not allowed to speak. The activity was pretty much the same as the energizer but one person was listening to music and the other people have to do a emotion that the one person has to guess what the rest are doing.

Duffy theater

L.I to learn more about reading.
For Duffy theater we were lucky to have them and the performance was about Duffy gets stuck in the game. The three people that was doing the role play was great and we know what it is like to remember all lines for the act. It started with Duffy playing Magic brick (the game) with his cousin Sam who got her PS3. Duffy parents are going for a trip to someplace and Duffy is going to Sam house.

The end is when that they find out how Duffy got into the game. He did his Grandmas dance which he does because his cousin Sam wasn't sharing the PS3. They find out that the dance is how to get out and in the game. They alo find out that grandma created the game Magic Bricks.

HIT workout

L.I to be fit.
For kiwi sport we had hit and we were doing pull ups, push ups and mountain climbing. For mountain climbers we have to get into a push up position and try and touch you elbows with your knees. We then got onto the next drill was Push ups. There were four Technics: Knee push up, floor push up, normal push up and other. The last one was pull ups which is the most hardest one.

Word problems presentation


LI: to solve word problems of different types.
Word problems are problems that are explained in words. We had four word problems we had to finish. We had to use place value adding and adding in parts. Place Value adding is adding the ones, tens, hundreds and thousands. Place value adding is the easier adding then adding in parts. Adding in parts is picking a number out of the one numbers that you have to answer and adding the other numbers to make the number you picked a tidy number.

L.I to remember basic maths facts.
For basic facts we have to time our self and do a challenge which is either, Speed Demon or Brain box. We have to do the challenges up to: five, ten and twenty.

Ghost are Real! Dialogue complete


LI- To write a narrative in the form of a play.
Recently we have been working on a project to write a narrative. But the narrative is in the form of a play. So we have finished the play and we are going to see the other group perform the play. . We have also made a storyboard so it could give us a brief idea of what we are going to do for the dialogue and the play. We had been working on this project for about 5 weeks.

Kiwi Can

L.I to learn all the topics that we learnt though the term.

For kiwi can are learning about our topic, responsibility. Responsibility is taking action when needed. For example leading a team to victory (That's what I do, I carry teams). Our catch phrase is, "Kiwi Can says: Responsible is what I am, and that's the way of Kiwi Can.

For the activity was not really a activity because we had to write down the three things that we need to work on and achieve before the end of the term.

After we had a reflection on what we had talked about during the session. We spoke as a group about different integrity we have against the school, home and community.

Maori


L.I to learn about maori.
For Maori we were learning about some Matariki and about two other stories which relate to Matariki. We then had to write down the maori way of saying i like and type in what we likeat the end of the sentence.

Life on other planets


L.I to if other planets can support life.
Space is a huge place where there is nothing. We are learning about sustain life on planets. There are six main elements of life. Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Sulphur. Our work was to pick a planet to study, and research to try to find out if that planet can support human life in the future using help by machines. We had to present it to the group and get scores for them. The planet we picked to study on is Mars and Neptune.

Constellations



L.I to skim, scan and summarize information.
Constellations are a shape of something that is made up of stars. They are created by ancient people who saw stars and imagined of what it looks like. Skimming is reading a book and looking for information. Scanning is trying to find specific information. Summarising is reading a book and retelling it. So we had an activity to make constellations using skewers and marshmallows. Marshmellows were the star and the skewers were the lines that make the constellation. We had to choose a constellation to make and write down information about. The two constellations I have done is Leo, and Scorpius.
