L.I to learn about time in Maori. For maori we were learning about time in maori. We had to tranlate the maori time language into english. We had played a game that helps us with our maori time language. Its like rock, paper, scissors but you use paper and count how many fingers that you put out but in maori.

Maori
L.I to learn about how to use a poi. This week we were learning how to use a poi. This is an instrument, weapon and other things. Mostly ladies use the poi. We learnt how to grip the poi properly and how to swing it. We had to follow the instruction while doing it to the song. We also learnt some new words as we learnt how to use a poi. We had to use our weak hand as well to do the tasks. We then went onto doing a work sheet that we had to translate words.

We then had to translate the words that the people said in the scenes. From Maori to English. We then had to do 2 work sheets one is translating words and translating phrases.

Ihumatao
L.I to identify the main ideas in a text. Ihumatao is the place that iwi are protesting for their land because the fl-etchers are wanting to buy and build on the sacred land. The maori people and iwi don't want the fletchers to build on there land. We had to research and find out information about what they were protesting about why they protested and other reasons.

The word for seasons in Te Reo Maori is Tau. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter also have their own words in Te Reo Maori. We used a website called "Te Ara Encyclopedia" to learn about the seasons and the events happening in the seasons.

Mount Maurganui is a mountain in Taranga. The Hunua and Waitakere ranges are mountains that have tribes living on them in Auckland. We had learnt about people like things, they are called Patupaiarehe. They are pal short and fairy people that had helped move a mountain.

L.I to learn Maori myths and legends.
In Maori we were learning about the legend of Mt Manganui tells us how Mt Manganui get dragged to where it is currently is. Whaea Odie (Maori Teacher) read a book which is about how Mt Manganui was dragged. We used google maps to search from where it was to where it is now.

Matariki celebration
For Matariki celebration we all got sausages at the end but first we all started with a pray. We all sang the next song which is He honore. After we had the senior kapa haka. Soon we had the drummers now these people were great, because I was in it. There was junior kapa haka next which was good. After there was pacific which had great dancers in the group. For a while there was lots till it ended and everyone was hungry just to eat the sausages. When it all ended everyone ran to the sausages and got into lines.
