Swimming

L.I. To learn how to swim.
For kiwi sport we had swimming. This was a exciting thing to do because we all haven't did this before in school. Everyone like to swim which made them to do what they wanted a little. When we got to the pools a lady came and got us to take to the pool but first we all had to go into some rules. The first rule was that when a siren goes off then we had to follow the instructors.                                                                                                                                                                                              The next thing after the rules were if anyone could float and if you couldn't then you go the the low group. We all got into groups that the lady told us to go to. There were three groups. When we finally got into the pool we all got tested to see if we could do the forward swim. We all then got into some swimming moves. We first did the safe entry, then the freestyle, kicking facing up, kicking facing down, underwater swimming, dolphin dive and last we did pencil dive. When the lesson was finished we were kind of sad, but we still went back to school.

Change our school uniform flipgrid

LI; To identify the main ideas in a text.
We are reading why we should change school uniform. I have read the article and it says that we should change our school uniforms. I think that we should have school uniform and if you want to know why watch the flipgrid. We had to say why we want this because we are learning about speeches and we have to write a speech for the flipgrid.

Print Advertising

L.I to learn about persuasive tools in advertising.                                                                                     Advertising is long for ad which is a poster or video that is showing a product that someone is using. For example for rebel sport that have sport wear that they want to sell so they have ads that have people using the equipment or sport wear. The ad is what is what is showing what you can do with the wear and what it could look like. We had to make a vocab list of words because these words we were using is what we need to know to do the advertisements.

Pulley

LI: to learn about pulley.
A rope that is around a wheel to pull up a heavy load, which is like a incline plane but pulls straight up. We had a poster for pulley and we had to answer the questions on the poster. We then had to use rope and sticks to see how pulleys work. We first started with one person pulling the sticks into them with the rope. Then we used the rope to make a pulley and made one loop. It was easy but not really easy. We then added 6 loops and it was way more easy.

Proportion word problems

LI: to manage finances and profit by creating with maths.
My work is a WIP (work in progress). This will be done by the 3/8/2019. Managing finances and profit is what we are learning and doing for this term. We are learning about how to use and make money by spending it wisely. We all have bank accounts and we have a opening balance. Each person gets a 50 dollar opening balance. We have commissions to complete that are different levels that earn us different amount of money if finished. I am doing a game about proportion word problems.

Kiwi Can

L.I to focus more (not to get distracted).                                                                                                    We learned how to not get distracted. Distracted is when you fall off focus. Many things can distract us like people talking or physically annoying each other. To learn about distractions we played a game called Distraction Circle. In the game one person stood in the middle and then the other four people do either singing to you, telling a story, Writing a number on your back and the person in the middle has to follow one persons actions.

Commenting

L.I to help others with a comment.                                                                                                       We do comments to help the persons blog post for them to fix it the next time.

SSR Selfie

L.I to summarie and retell a text.
For SSR Selfie we have to read a book for fifteen minutes and then summarise the book. We have to take a selfie with he book that we are reading.

Proportion word problems

LI: to manage finances and profit by creating with maths.
My work is a WIP (work in progress). This will be done by the 26/8/2019.

Kiwi Can

L.I to learn about coping with challenges.                                                                                     Coping with challenges is what we are focusing for now. We talked about self control and self disciple but we went and looked at how we can cop with challenges. We also talked about what things we have to cop with when we are at school. Our energizer was Rats and Rabits. We had to partner with someone and then try to grab the cone before they do. We talked about how we cop with challenges.  Our activity is linked to how we cop with challenges. We had to complete four challenges in groups. Each challenges were not all easy to cop with.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    The challenges were: do the catchphrase with new actions, write the alphabet backwards and doing five of burpees, push ups, sit ups and squats and put Maori words to English. The hard part of doing the fitness was that I was tired and I worked through this was by taking breaks. The hard part of the catch phrase is that we have to remember and come up with new actions with the catchphrase. The hard part of writing the alphabet backwards is that you have to say the alphabet and write it down backwards. The hard part of the matching Maori words to English words is that we have to sing the song of Maori colours.

Print Design Rules

LI to identify the four areas of print design. In print design rules there are four areas that you need to know before making a poster or posting something onto the media that you need to make look good. These are the meaning of the four areas of Print Design Rules.                                                               Composition - the elements (parts) that go on a poster or other media.
Layout - the arrangement and alignment of the elements that go on a medium.
Colour - the combinations of colours to make media look appealing or easy to understand.
Text - the use of font styles, sizes, and colours to make a poster or other media easy to understand and visually appealing.

Incline plain

LI: to learn about incline plain.
A incline wheel is  A plane that has one side higher than the other, it helps to bring loads to a high or low place. We had a poster for incline plain and we had to answer the questions on the poster. We then had to use cars and test the different ramps or incline plains to see an complete the challenge. The first was to push the car on incline planes that were on different angles, and the second one was to try to make the car keep going when it goes on the ground. We did the second one because when it went down there was a big gap so the car would go out of control.

Speech and poem competition

Speeches are what we have been learning about in class. We have just had the speech finals for our school. There were 10 people that were in the competition that were from different year level which were new entrance to year 8. The marking were scored by the English teacher from Tamiki collage. The markings were also based on the year level. For the younger kids they did poems and year 4 to 6 did speeches. My favorite speech was about the danger of technology which was by Sulia. I liked hers because it makes me think of the future. My favorite poem was about earth and what we can do to save it which was by Mercy. I liked it because it made me think about it.

Wheel, axle and lever

LI: to learn about wheel and axles and lever
A wheel is a circle that rolls along the ground. An axle is a stick or rod that goes through the centre of the wheel. A lever is a bar that rests on a fulcrum to lift up a heavy load by applying pressure on one side. We had a poster for both simple machines and we had to answer the questions on the poster. We then had to make a wheel and axle. We then later in the week tried to use the lever to pick something up.

Lion King Jr

We went to watch the lion king performance at Ormiston Junior. We were lucky enough to have this opportunity to go to the performance. My favorite part of the show was when we got to see Pumba and Tamon which were played by Jordan and Avi. The show was so good it was like it was watching the movie. I know how hard it is to do plays because our class has done plays that are a bit shorter then the Lion King.

Ihumatao

L.I to identify the main ideas in a text.                                                                                                    Ihumatao is the place that iwi are protesting for their land because the fl-etchers are wanting to buy and build on the sacred land. We had to find information about when it happened and what happened. We had to make sure that it was right so we had to do a group check which we look at each others and look at the site that we got the information from.

Kiwi Can

L.I to learn about each others emotions.
For Kiwi Can we were learning about the big T and the little t which the big T is Resilience and the little t is Emotions. The energizer  was to find the words that relate to your word, so if you word was mad then get angry and other words that relate. We had to but the words into the type of intensity, so it went shocked to terrified. When we sat down we were talking about emotions and how they affect others. We also talked about how what we say affects peoples emotions.
